About The Book
The year is 2015. Theatre artist Karnik meets Samhita, a professor, on the Mudgaon-Nizamuddin Express. A casual conversation about Karnik’s plays and how they focus on the oppression of women takes a dramatic turn. Samhita is moved by Karnik’s depiction of women in his plays and asks him if he would like to listen to one such story which has remained untold for years. Karnik agrees. Samhita then begins to narrate the tale of a girl born in Bombay in an affluent family with a safe and secure childhood. Few years later, her life turns upside down when she loses an important person. She moves to another city with her mother. A city that is hostile in more than one ways where she would be tormented every day for years by many boys and men. A childhood spoilt, yet she fought back. She moved on leaving behind her horrific past determined to make her family proud. Adulthood brought a new kind of joy and good friends. She fell in love and felt genuinely loved back. However happiness would be short-lived as she soon realized that she has fallen in another abyss where she has to again fight all alone to come out of that abyss.
