About the Book:

“Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible, and suddenly you are doing the impossible.” - Francis of Assisi

Scarlett Miller has Sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) and having a disability like hers isn't easy. Scarlett finds ways to embrace it regardless of how others believe she should be. Her fears of how the people closest to her react when they find out. Will they think it's an act? Or that Scarlett is pretending to be disabled for attention? All her questions are all put to rest eventually as life takes some unexpected turns. Truth indeed is stranger than fiction.

Scarlett allows her feelings to run its course instead of trying to fake positivity; this allows her to do some extraordinary things just to prove herself to be ordinary. Follow Scarlett on a journey of self-discovery as she overcomes obstacles and hardships and learns to embrace her disability as a part of herself; and how she and everyone around her adapt to her ‘new normal’ life and finally accept her for who she is and not just her disability.

About the Author:

Khadija Motiwala is a 14-year-old girl, born and raised in the city of joy, Kolkata. She is an eighth-grader in a visionary school, MSB Educational Institute, Kolkata. “You just can't beat the person who won't give up,” best describes her spirit, as she continues to rise above her stereotypes, fears and insecurities, to find her inner strength and purpose of the soul, despite being diagnosed with Sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) at a young age of 8.

She radiates confidence wearing her barely visible hearing aids, and is often found busy solving the Rubik's cube or baking a dish for her family, or relishing a sugary treat with her friends to satisfy her sweet tooth. A talkative and loud personality hides behind her otherwise quiet demeanour. She fuels her imagination by deep diving into the genres of fantasy and romance.
